Through my eyes

07 Mar

Well, I had another excellent day at work!  For those of you who are new, I work as Secretary at my church.  To my misfortune, I had the bright idea of changing the church signs this afternoon, which are located outside… P.S. the winds are crazy today.  Thankfully I didn’t lose any letters, but, the plexiglass window that covers the sign did bonk my head pretty hard and tried to close me in.  So glad no one drove by when that happened!  Below is a picture of my “nourishment” for the day.

Oh the weather outside is delightful!  I took advantage of this 65 degree sunny but windy day and took a walk with my mother.  Walking is such a simple and enjoyable form of exercise, especially for those with RA.  Too bad my ankle is protesting the walk.  My right elbow was also retaining some fluid this morning, but after using it to change the sign, the pain lessened!

TMNT!

Our first “reward” came in the mail!  My parents decided to use some rewards points that they earned by using their credit card, and mom chose this beautiful Crosley 5 in 1 entertainment center.

Until next time, keep walking!

Your blog is really interesting and inspiring Becca. I am in my twenties also and was diagnoised with RA back in September so understand what a challenge it can be. Its good to know that there are other younger people out there who are going through the same thing. Youve got a fab attitude and reading your blog has helped me on more difficult days like today. Stay positive, S

Thank you, Sarah! What symptoms did you notice before you decided to get checked for RA? Do you notice a flare up (when your RA is at its worst) after eating certain foods, or perhaps when the weather changes drastically? Same to you, keep fighting and stay strong. I’m glad my blog can help you! Your blog can help me too 🙂

It all started in my knee in early 2011 – my doctor originally thought it was ligament damage. Our healthcare system is quite different here in the UK (We have a national healthcare system) and diagnosis and referrals tend to take quite a long time….! By the time the relevant tests were done I could barely walk and by the time I saw a rheumatologist I had arthritis in the majority of joints in my body. How about your journey? I haven’t really had chance to notice what has an affect on my arthritis as my medication regime has been here there and everywhere!!! I had to have (unrelated) emergency back surgery in late December so have had to be off methotrexate for several months. Im looking forward to starting it again as well as some new medication in about a month’s time though. What do you find affects you? Looking forward to keeping up to date with your blog. Hope you have a lovely, pain-free day, S x

So sorry the RA spread so quickly! My first post on my blog, called “The Challenge” pretty much sums up my journey thus far, if you wanna take a look at that. But, I’ve had it for 3 years in July. I too take methotrexate, along with folic acid and plaquenil. I take methotrexate 4 times, once a week. For awhile I thought the drastic changes in weather (major increase or decrease in temps) were affecting my joints, cause my knees would swell when the temps did that. I also think when I eat a lot of sugary foods that I tend to not feel so good and that I’m sore the next day. I hope you do too, we deserve to feel good!

Gotta say, it would be great if our backyard had that river running through it!
We have quite the concrete jungle here in Los Angeles.

Ah, I bet! That picture is from our main park and we live quite close, so I suppose I should go walking more so I can enjoy it for you and Teddy 🙂
